After meeting with former presidents, investors have once again turned their attention to Kyrgyzstan

President Sadyr Zhaparov said that after reconciling with former heads of state and reaching an internal consensus, Kyrgyzstan has once again begun to attract the attention of investors. According to him, it was unity within the country that signalled growing confidence on the part of global business.

The head of state spoke about this in an interview with the Kabar National News Agency, timed to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the October 2020 events.

Sadyr Zhaparov recalled that he had previously organised a meeting with former presidents of Kyrgyzstan in Dubai. The aim of the meeting was to bring everyone together around one table and call for an end to mutual conflicts.

"I told them: 'It's over, stop arguing and fighting with each other. As long as there is discord between former leaders, the international community will consider that there is no peace in the country. And investors do not come to places where there is no stability," the president noted.

He stressed that after this meeting, the ex-presidents stopped arguing, and the political forces as a whole calmed down. This, he said, was an important signal to the outside world.

‘The world media reported that peace and stability had been established in Kyrgyzstan. Then investors began to return. Today, direct investment has reached $1 billion, and the country is experiencing economic growth,’ said Sadyr Zhaparov.
