U.S. Ambassador Leslie Vigeri visited the Kumtor mine

Leslie Vigeri, U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kyrgyz Republic, paid a fact-finding visit to Kumtor, one of the country’s largest gold mining operations.

During the trip, the diplomat visited the central open-pit mine and toured the heavy mining equipment repair shop and the gold processing plant.

Particular attention was paid to equipment from the American manufacturer Caterpillar, which has been used at the mine for many years and ensures the fulfillment of key production tasks.

Following the visit, the parties noted their mutual interest in developing bilateral cooperation, including in the industrial and technological sectors.
