Consumer loans and trade have pushed bank lending to a new record

Lending to the Kyrgyz economy continues to show strong growth. In the first half of 2025, the volume of new loans issued by banks increased by 51.4% year-on-year, following growth of 54.9% in January–May.

Consumer lending remains the main driver, growing 2.1 times and accounting for 65% of the total increase in the new loan portfolio.

Loans issued for trade purposes also made a significant contribution to the growth. This segment accounts for 16% of the growth in new loans, confirming the importance of the trade sector for banking activity. The expansion of trade lending helps to support the business activity of small and medium-sized enterprises, which are a key link in the structure of the Kyrgyz economy.

A positive trend was the decline in the level of dollarization of loans: in January-June 2025, the share of foreign currency loans decreased to 11.8% from 17.6% a year earlier.
