03/06/2025, 09:23President Sadyr Zhaparov commented on the criticism of LCD deputy Sultanbai Aizhigitov on the agreement on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, calling it ‘demagogic’. In an interview with the Kabar agency, the President disagreed with the deputy's assessment of the agreement's shortcomings.
The President noted that the MP, having full information, changed his position, which is surprising. The key point of disagreement was the statements about the size of the Vorukh territory. The President denied the claims about the transfer of 19,500 hectares, pointing to the historical 14,500 hectares and the exchange of pasture plots, which resulted in the area of Vorukh being 15,500 hectares.
Sadyr Zhaparov also denied the statement about the role of Dostuk village as a ‘gate7 to Vorukh’ and emphasised that the purpose of the agreement was to settle the conflict areas, not strategic benefits. He noted that the exchange affected enclaves and territories with complex borders.
The President justified the open-ended nature of the agreement by the need for long-term stability and balancing the interests of the parties. Full information will be provided later. He expressed confidence in a positive assessment of the agreements in the future.
