The profit of Kyrgyzstan's financial sector doubled in the first quarter of 2025

In January–March 2025, the country's financial sector demonstrated steady growth. It comprised 546 organizations, including the National Bank, 21 commercial banks, 507 non-banking institutions, and 17 insurance companies. The total customer base exceeded 17 million accounts, 4.5 million more than a year earlier. The growth is explained by the digitalization of banking services and the revitalization of the insurance market.

The financial sector's revenues amounted to KGS 46.8 billion, an increase of 40% compared to the first quarter of 2024. Expenses reached KGS 30.9 billion, and net profit was almost KGS 16 billion, which is twice as much as last year. Banks and insurance companies made the main contribution.

Commercial banks received KGS 40.3 billion in income, with expenses of KGS 25.7 billion and profits of over KGS 14.6 billion. Pawnshops, microfinance organizations, credit unions, and insurers also showed positive dynamics. More than half of the sector's players (57%) operated at a profit, while 16% recorded losses.
