Kyrgyzstan’s industrial output rose by 14.4 per cent: the chemical, pharmaceutical and oil refining sectors lead the way

Kyrgyzstan’s industrial enterprises produced goods worth 374.7 billion KGS in January–May 2026. Compared with the same period last year, industrial output increased by 14.4%.

According to the National Statistics Committee, excluding gold processing enterprises, industrial growth was even higher — 16.7%.

The greatest growth was recorded in the production of chemical products, where output tripled. Output of pharmaceutical products increased 1.8-fold, that of wood and paper products 1.7-fold, and that of transport vehicles 1.6-fold. Production of refined petroleum products (up 43.7 per cent), construction materials (up 36.1 per cent) and food and beverages (up 15.7 per cent) also increased significantly, whilst mineral extraction rose by 19.7 per cent.

At the same time, electricity generation fell by 6.5 per cent, leading to a 2.6 per cent decline in the energy supply sector.

Over the five-month period, industry accounted for 20.8 per cent of the country’s gross domestic product and contributed 2.68 percentage points to overall economic growth.

The growth in industrial production was one of the key factors behind the increase in Kyrgyzstan’s GDP, which rose by 12.2 per cent between January and May 2026.
