From 50 to 82 thousand KGS and back again. How gasoline behaved in 2025 on the St. Petersburg Commodity Exchange

In 2025, exchange prices for gasoline on the St. Petersburg International Commodity Exchange (SPIMEX) showed high volatility, reaching peak values in the fall, after which they began to decline towards the end of the year.

According to trading data, the price of AI-92 gasoline fluctuated throughout the year, ranging from 47,000-50,000 rubles per ton at the beginning of the year to a maximum of about 74,700 rubles in September. In the fourth quarter, prices adjusted and fell to around 55,000-57,000 rubles per ton by December.

A similar trend was observed for AI-95 gasoline. In January, prices were around 50-52 thousand rubles per ton, by autumn they had risen to 82 thousand rubles, and then fell to about 60 thousand rubles by the end of the year.

The composite exchange index for light petroleum products (author's note — an indicator of the average change in fuel prices on the exchange) rose above 3,100 points during 2025, but fell to around 2,500 points in December. This reflects the general cooling of the market at the end of the year.

The rise in prices in the first half and middle of the year can be attributed to seasonal increases in demand, repairs at oil refineries, and export restrictions. The decline in the second half of the year, on the contrary, indicates a stabilization of supplies.

As a result, at the end of 2025, exchange prices for gasoline remained above January levels, despite the December correction.
