Since the beginning of the year, Kyrgyzstan has banned the import of more than 70,000 seedlings due to violations of phytosanitary requirements

According to the Department of Plant Protection and Quarantine, between January and November 2025, 35 cases of non-compliance with phytosanitary requirements were identified, resulting in 562.5 tonnes of cargo being returned and denied entry into the country.

Among the detained quarantine goods were: 562.5 tonnes of various products,
70,515 seedlings, 11,387 flowers, and 136 cubic metres of sawn timber.

The measures provided for were applied to violators of phytosanitary requirements: return, destruction, or decontamination of cargo.

In addition, official notes were sent through diplomatic channels to the competent authorities of China and the Netherlands regarding the identified violations.

The department emphasises that phytosanitary control is an important element in ensuring environmental safety, preventing the import of dangerous quarantine organisms, and protecting domestic plant production. The work carried out contributes to the stability of the agricultural market and the preservation of the country's export opportunities.
