High-yielding sugar beet: yields of up to 70 tonnes per hectare are expected in the Sokuluk District

In the Sokuluk District of the Chui Region, the Kyrgyz State Breeding Farm is growing sugar beet with an expected yield of up to 700 centners per hectare. This figure is considered high for this crop and could serve as an example of the application of modern agricultural technologies in the country’s farming sector.

The sugar beet crops are planted across an area of 10 hectares. High-yielding varieties bred in France and Germany are used for cultivation.

According to the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, the crops are currently in good condition. Specialists regularly carry out soil analyses and, based on the results, apply the necessary mineral fertilisers.

The expected yield is 600–700 centners per hectare, which corresponds to 60–70 tonnes of sugar beet. Consequently, it is planned to harvest up to 600–700 tonnes of produce from 10 hectares.

In the agricultural sector, a sugar beet yield of 60–70 tonnes per hectare is considered high and indicates the correct selection of varieties, the quality of the seed, and adherence to cultivation techniques.

The Ministry of Agriculture notes that the project is aimed not only at achieving a high yield, but also at introducing modern cultivation methods and developing the raw material base for the domestic sugar industry.
