According to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, unknown individuals are sending messages via messaging apps to citizens claiming that their accounts on the state e-services portal Tunduk have been hacked and that personal data has been leaked. To lend credibility to their claims, the fraudsters use forged documents bearing the National Bank’s logo.
The fraudsters then inform the victim that a loan has allegedly been taken out in their name. Under the pretext of protecting their money, they persuade citizens to transfer funds to a so-called ‘secure account’.
‘These are fraudsters. Do not believe such messages and under no circumstances transfer money to strangers,’ warns the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The regulator reminds the public that National Bank staff do not contact citizens via messaging apps regarding loan applications, do not request money transfers, and do not suggest using any “secure accounts”.
