09/11/2025, 15:52The Capital Construction Department of the Bishkek City Hall has begun work on a project to construct a new building for Secondary School No. 23 on Zhibek-Zholu Avenue.
According to the department, the building will be three stories high with a basement, with a total area of 5,200 square metres and designed for 560 students. The project is based on a monolithic reinforced concrete foundation, brick walls and a frame system, and a multi-pitched roof insulated with basalt slabs.
The 85-acre site will be landscaped and will feature football and basketball/volleyball fields, a workout area, a playground, fire lanes, storm drains and footpaths.
The basement of the building will house technical and utility rooms, storage rooms, and a cold storage room. The first floor will house primary school classrooms, a library, a medical unit, a canteen, and the administration. subject classrooms, laboratories, and computer classrooms, and finally, on the third floor, an assembly hall, sports hall, creative rooms, and club rooms.
The contractor is SK Leader House. The company has already proven itself, having previously been involved in the construction of the new building for School No. 40. In 2022, SK Leader House was among the construction companies recognised by President Sadyr Zhaparov for their contribution to social construction.
School No. 23 was opened in 1952. It offered in-depth German language studies and served as a base for teacher training. In November 2024, the building was declared unsafe and closed by the State Institute of Earthquake-Resistant Construction, and in 2025 it was completely demolished. A new complex is being built in its place.
