Temir Sariev identified three main areas of focus for Kyrgyzstan's business sector within the SCO

Temir Sariev, Chairman of the Kyrgyz Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that Kyrgyz businesses should make more active use of the opportunities offered by the country’s membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He made these remarks on the sidelines of the 27th meeting of the SCO Business Council.

According to Sariev, the SCO is currently one of the world’s largest integration platforms, uniting 10 states, including China, India, Russia, and Iran.

“The global economic focus is gradually shifting toward Asia. This opens up great opportunities for our entrepreneurs to tap not only the potential of Central Asia and Eurasia, but also the resources of China, India, Iran, and other SCO member states,” noted the head of the CCI.

He emphasized that the ongoing investment forum and business meetings between entrepreneurs from the organization’s member states are of particular importance.

“A major investment forum will take place this afternoon, featuring panel sessions and B2B meetings. This is a good platform for representatives of small and medium-sized businesses to find new partners and establish business contacts,” added Sariev.

Speaking about promising areas of cooperation, Temir Sariev highlighted three key sectors.

First, he mentioned logistics. According to the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, one of the most important projects for Kyrgyzstan remains the construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway, which will significantly reduce transportation costs and expand domestic companies’ access to foreign markets.

The second area is energy, including the development of green energy. Sariev noted the growing global demand for electricity from data centers, artificial intelligence technologies, and the digital economy, which creates new opportunities for Kyrgyzstan to attract investment in the energy sector.

The head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry identified the production and export of environmentally friendly agricultural products as the third promising area.

“Today, there is a huge market for environmentally friendly food products, and this sector could become one of the most in-demand areas for Kyrgyz businesses,” he emphasized.

According to Sariev, Kyrgyzstan’s participation in the SCO enables domestic companies to find new partners, enter major markets, and attract investment into priority sectors of the economy.
