The shadow sector is being brought into the open. The State Tax Service promises budget growth without raising taxes

The tax reforms being carried out in Kyrgyzstan are primarily aimed at legalizing shadow businesses and expanding the tax base, rather than introducing new taxes or increased rates. This was stated in an interview with Birinchi Radio by Kubanychbek Ysabekov, deputy chairman of the tax service.

According to him, the tax collection plan for this year is set at 268 billion KGS. However, current dynamics suggest that the final figure could reach 303 billion KGS. This is significantly higher than the planned level. Already, 275 billion KGS have been collected in the first 11 months.

Ysabekov emphasized that no new types of taxes have been introduced. On the contrary, the government is providing incentives and reducing rates for certain industries. In particular, in the jewelry sector, the sales tax has been reduced from 4% to 0.25%, which, according to the ministry, creates incentives for businesses to come out of the shadows and legally expand production.

Earlier, President Sadyr Zhaparov signed a decree “On measures to support certain sectors of the economy,” aimed at developing the jewelry and garment industries, as well as supporting small and medium-sized businesses. The document provides for significant tax preferences that should create favorable conditions for entrepreneurs and ensure sustainable economic growth, as well as increase budget revenues by expanding the legal sector.
