Kyrgyzstan’s trade with OTS countries exceeded $218 million — imports were three times higher than exports

In January 2026, Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover with the countries of the Organisation of Turkic States amounted to approximately $218 million. Imports were almost three times higher than exports.

By the end of January 2026, Kyrgyzstan had been actively trading with OTS member states, though the balance of trade was negative.

Trade volumes with member states of the Organisation:

  • Kazakhstan: imports — $87.29 million, exports — $27.82 million;
  • Uzbekistan: imports — $52.44 million, exports — $16.52 million;
  • Turkey: imports — $21.95 million, exports — $3.12 million.

Volumes with other member states of the Organisation are significantly lower:

  • Azerbaijan: imports — $3.27 million, exports — $701,700;
  • Turkmenistan: imports – $4.07 million, exports – $576,400;
  • Hungary: imports – $187,300, exports – $22,600.

Overall, imports amounted to $169.2 million, whilst exports stood at just $48.8 million.

The Organisation of Turkic States brings together countries with close economic and political ties, and Kyrgyzstan is increasing trade within this bloc. However, the trade structure remains unbalanced — the republic imports significantly more than it exports.

A meeting of the OTS member states took place in Baku today, attended by the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev. Such meetings traditionally address issues of expanding economic cooperation, increasing mutual trade and removing barriers between member states.
