In 2026, there are plans to increase funding for preventive healthcare services

Minister of Health Erkin Checheibaev visited the Uzgen Interdistrict Centre for Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance to familiarise himself with its activities.

The centre's chief physician, Gulzita Bekova, reported on the institution's work, highlighting its successes in providing the population with clean drinking water and the low incidence of infectious diseases. At the same time, she pointed out problems such as a shortage of qualified personnel and the need to build a new laboratory building due to the dilapidated state of the existing one.

Gulzita Bekova presented a report on the measures taken in response to complaints from residents and activists. In particular, she spoke about identified cases of expired products being sold in public places and about joint work with law enforcement agencies to crack down on unlicensed dental and other private medical centres to prevent the spread of hepatitis.

The minister noted that preventive services had been underfunded for a long time, leading to low salaries and staff shortages. According to him, there are plans to significantly increase budget funding for preventive services from 2026 to address these issues.
