09/16/2026, 13:54In 2027, it is planned to allocate 135.2 billion KGS from the national budget towards servicing Kyrgyzstan’s public debt. This was announced by Talas Aidarbek uulu, First Deputy Minister of Finance, at public budget hearings held at the Ministry of Finance.
Of the total amount, 80.3 billion KGS will go towards repaying the principal, with a further 54.8 billion KGS allocated to interest payments.
By way of comparison, the revised figure for 2026 stands at 99.3 billion KGS. Consequently, expenditure on servicing the public debt is expected to rise by 35.9 billion KGS, or 36 per cent, in 2027.
The highest debt burden will fall in 2028, when repayments will reach their peak.
“The highest level of public debt servicing expenditure in the three-year forecast is for 2028 – 149.8 billion KGS. Of this, 94 billion KGS will be principal repayments and 55.7 billion KGS will be interest payments,” said Talas Aidarbek uluu.
As early as 2029, public debt servicing costs will fall by 3.54 per cent to 144.5 billion KGS.
The Ministry of Finance is holding public consultations on the draft national budget for 2027 and the planning period 2028–2029. The document itself is still at the draft stage.
