Construction of a water intake well completed in the Alay district

In the village of Sogondu in the Alay district of the Osh region, construction of a water intake well, water pipeline, and reservoirs has been completed as part of a project to provide the population with high-quality drinking water.

Construction and installation work began in 2024 by the Department of Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Development. During the project, a 50-meter-deep water intake well was drilled, and a chlorination plant for water disinfection, a guardhouse, and a sanitary toilet were built. The sanitary zone of the facility is completely fenced off with a 400-meter-long chain-link fence.

A water pipeline made of PVC pipes with a diameter of 100 mm and a total length of 900 meters was laid from the well to the reservoirs. Two reservoirs with a capacity of 50 cubic meters each have also been built, providing the necessary water supply for stable and uninterrupted water supply to the village.

The facility was completed and put into operation in the first quarter of 2026. The implementation of this project has significantly increased the level of clean drinking water supply to the residents of the village of Sogond, improved the sanitary and epidemiological situation, reduced the risks associated with the use of poor-quality water sources, and created conditions for the sustainable social development of the settlement.
