In August, migrant workers sent a record amount of money to Kyrgyzstan since 2022

In August, the volume of cross-border remittances by individuals to the country amounted to $342.5 million. This was the highest figure since June 2022. These data were provided by the National Bank.

For comparison, in July the figure was $317.7 million, and the average for eight months was $290.3 million per month.

Traditionally, the bulk of transfers come from CIS countries, which sent $325.4 million in August, including:

  • Russia — $318.7 million;
  • Kazakhstan — $3.8 million;
  • other CIS countries — $2.9 million.

From countries outside the CIS, $17.1 million was received, including:

  • the United States — $11.2 million;
  • Turkey — $1.5 million;
  • South Korea — $100,000;
  • other countries — $4.3 million.

Since the beginning of 2025, the total inflow of remittances to Kyrgyzstan has reached $2 billion 322.4 million. This is 18.7% more than in the same period of 2024, when the country received $1 billion 965.4 million.

The difference between the inflow and outflow of funds in August amounted to $297.2 million, which is 7.5% higher than a month earlier.
