Restoration of cultural infrastructure: RKFR invests in the reconstruction of the Batken Kino cinema

The renovated Batken Kino cinema has opened in Batken. The project is the first step in a large-scale program to restore cinema infrastructure in the regions.

The grand opening of the renovated Batken Kino cinema took place on Batken City Day. The renovation of the facility, which was built in the 1960s and 1970s and had been inactive for many years, was made possible thanks to the initiative of Atlant Cinema LLC with financial support from the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKDF).

The project is being implemented on behalf of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Zhaparov, with the assistance of the Cabinet of Ministers. In total, the RRF allocated $1.55 million to modernize six cinemas in different regions of the country—in Batken, Cholpon-Ata, Kerben, Aravan, Belovodsk, and Tokmok.

The Batken Kino cinema has had its engineering networks completely renovated, modern digital equipment installed, sound and image quality improved, and furniture replaced. Now, residents of the region will be able to watch both domestic and international premieres in comfortable conditions.

Artem Novikov, Chairman of the Board of the Kyrgyz Film Fund, noted that thanks to the project, residents of small and medium-sized cities will have access to high-quality films, and domestic filmmakers will have the opportunity to expand their projects and implement new ideas.

As part of the program, it is planned to open more than 1,800 seats and create over 200 jobs across the country.
