Construction work has begun in the Batken district to install a drip irrigation system

In the Batken district, on the territory of the Tort-Gul aiyl okmotu, in the south-eastern part of the village of Zhan-Zher, on additional land plots in the irrigation zone of the R-4 canal, which is managed by the Batken District Water Management Administration, a project is being implemented to install a modern drip irrigation system.

The project involves the installation of a drip irrigation system covering an area of 143 hectares. Construction work began in the second half of January 2026.

The main advantages of the drip irrigation system are the rational and economical use of water resources and the delivery of water directly to the root zone of plants, which reduces water loss, increases crop yields and prevents soil salinisation.

In addition, this system helps to reduce labour costs and make more efficient use of water and fertilisers. The project aims to improve irrigation efficiency, adapt to climate change and promote sustainable agricultural production.
