11/14/2025, 17:16Today, 14 November, the capital saw the first pilot delivery of solid household waste to the new waste processing plant, which is nearing completion.

The launch was attended by Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision Medeer Mashiev, Mayor of Bishkek Aibek Junushaliyev, as well as representatives of the contractor and other officials.

As part of the pilot programme, 17 specialised vehicles made one trip each, delivering a total of 126 tonnes of waste. Once 1,000 tonnes of waste have been accumulated, the plant will launch a technological process for waste disposal, followed by electricity generation.

Mayor Aibek Junushaliyev personally inspected the facility, familiarised himself with the progress of construction and commissioning works, and confirmed that the construction is in its final stages. The opening of the waste processing plant is scheduled for 26 December.

The project is being implemented under a framework agreement signed in November 2023 by the mayor of Bishkek and the CEO of the Chinese company Junxin Dai Daoguo. On 29 March 2024, a ‘time capsule’ was laid at the construction site with the participation of the Prime Minister.

The investment project was approved by a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on 28 March 2024. The total investment amounts to $95 million.
