Construction of a Russian-Kyrgyz school has begun in Bishkek as part of a major educational project

A new phase of construction on the joint Russian-Kyrgyz comprehensive school began today in Bishkek. A formal ceremony was held, attended by representatives from both countries, marking the start of the structural work.

The project is being implemented under an intergovernmental agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Russia and forms part of a programme to build nine Russian-language schools in the country. The facilities are to be fitted with modern equipment, and completion of the first school in Bishkek is scheduled for 2027.

The ceremony was attended by Sergey Vakunov, Russia’s Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, and Edil Baisalov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic.

It is noted that the schools will be staffed by teachers from Russia and Kyrgyzstan who have been trained at leading universities. This will help improve the quality of education and bring together the best educational practices of both countries.

The Russian language retains an important role in Kyrgyzstan’s education system, and the development of such projects is seen as strengthening humanitarian and strategic ties between the countries.

The Ambassador announced that the next exhibition of Russian universities, ‘Education in Russia – 2026’, will take place on 1–3 April in Bishkek, Kara-Balta, Kant and Tokmok, attended by representatives from 26 leading universities from various regions of Russia.
