Construction of the Eastern Bypass Road has begun in Bishkek

The project to build the Eastern Bypass Road, one of the capital's key infrastructure projects, has officially kicked off. This was announced by the municipality's press service.

The new transport corridor will run through the eastern part of the city, outside the densely built-up area. The total length of the Eastern Bypass Road will be 16 km. The project provides for the construction of five large transport interchanges, as well as an overpass bridge on the Kant side.

Simultaneously with the construction of the bypass road, the construction and reconstruction of adjacent highways is planned. These include:

  • Lva Tolstogo Street — from Auezov Street to the Eastern Bypass (5.7 km);
  • Akhunbaeva Street — from Auezov Street to the Eastern Bypass (3 km);
  • Sukhe-Batora Street — from Auezov Street to the Eastern Bypass (2 km);
  • Zhukeeva-Pudovkina Street — from A. Tokombaeva Street to Imanaliev Street (2.2 km);
  • Imanaliev Street — from Zhukeeva-Pudovkina Street to 7 April Street (3 km).

Taking these sections into account, the total length of the construction will be 32 kilometers.

As part of the project launch, the mayor familiarized himself with the progress of work on the Zhukeeva-Pudovkina Street section. About 100 units of specialized equipment are involved in the construction.

According to the mayor's office, the key objective of the project is to move transit traffic outside the city limits, reduce congestion on central streets, and improve transport accessibility for residents of Bishkek and the surrounding areas of the Chui region.

The eastern bypass road is seen as a strategic project that could significantly improve the transport situation in the capital in the medium term.
