The Aga Khan Award for Architecture ceremony will be held in Bishkek for the first time

From September 14 to 16, the capital of Kyrgyzstan will host a ceremony to present one of the most prestigious international awards in architecture—the Aga Khan Award. The event is timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the Aga Khan Development Fund.

This year, 369 projects were submitted for the award, of which 19 from 16 countries made it to the final. The 2025 winners will share a prize fund of US$1 million. Ahead of the ceremony, exhibitions and lectures will be held in Bishkek, and the event will conclude on September 16 with an international seminar.

The Aga Khan Award was established in 1977 by Aga Khan IV and is presented every three years. Its goal is to support projects that contribute to the preservation of cultural heritage, the development of architecture, and the improvement of the living environment in Muslim communities.

The award ceremony will be held in Kyrgyzstan for the first time. In Central Asia, such an event has been held only once before, in 1992 in Samarkand.
