As revealed during an inspection, some tenants of the shopping centre were disposing of household waste in an unauthorised location. As a result, the area behind the building had turned into a makeshift rubbish dump.
According to the inspecting authorities, the shopping centre’s management failed to provide tenants with the necessary facilities for waste collection. Consequently, the shopping centre has been fined 17,000 KGS under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Kyrgyz Code of Offences.
It is noted, however, that an official waste collection contract has been concluded with the municipal enterprise Tazalyk, and rubbish is collected regularly in accordance with the approved schedule.
In addition, the shopping centre’s management has been issued with instructions to install special waste collection bins, fence off the area and comply with health and safety standards.
