The Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision reports that, during a working meeting with representatives of the Asian Development Bank and the Japan Fund, issues relating to the project’s implementation were discussed, including the introduction of ‘Fukuoka’ technology, securing grant funding and providing technical support.
The ‘Fukuoka’ technology accelerates the natural decomposition of waste, reduces the formation of toxic leachate and prevents the release of harmful substances into the environment. Unlike traditional landfill sites, it minimises the risk of spontaneous combustion and significantly reduces the spread of unpleasant odours.
It is expected that the implementation of the project will reduce soil and groundwater pollution, improve public health and safety, and create a model for the roll-out of similar solutions across the country.
The transition to modern environmental technologies is a prerequisite for protecting public health and ensuring the country’s sustainable development.
