Almost half of all unemployed people, 49.07%, live in Kazakhstan. For comparison, in Russia, where the population is almost seven times higher than in Kazakhstan, there are only 297,100 registered unemployed people, which is equivalent to 0.4% of the total workforce. In Kazakhstan, this figure is 3.8%.
In addition, contrary to the general trend in the EAEU towards a decrease in unemployment, Kazakhstan has seen an increase. At the end of July, there were 369,100 registered unemployed people. For comparison, in July 2024, there were 338,700 unemployed people, or 3.5% of the workforce. Thus, over the year, from July to July, the increase amounted to almost 30,000 people.
