In Kyrgyzstan, 1,300 projects will be financed through government securities — the Ministry of Finance has outlined the mechanism

Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Finance, Ruslan Suynaliev, stated that the increase in the number of funded projects from 200–300 to 1,300 was made possible by new financial instruments, including the issuance of government securities.

According to the minister, in the 2020s, between 3 and 5 billion KGS were allocated from the national budget for capital expenditure, which was sufficient for approximately 200–300 projects. He announced this during the ‘Open Cabinet’ event

Now, as Suynaliev noted, around 1,300 projects are funded each year. This growth has been made possible by the introduction, from 2023, of a financing mechanism using government securities.

The Minister explained that the state issues securities and raises funds, which are deposited in banks. Contractors and clients register with the banks and receive payment only after the work has been completed and confirmed by certificates.

“This is a very good tool,” noted the Minister of Finance.
