In Kyrgyzstan, used tyres will be sent to the Kumtor plant

In Kyrgyzstan, used car tyres and tyres from government bodies will be sent for recycling to the Kumtor Gold Company plant. The costs of collection, transport and recycling are to be covered by a recycling levy.

This is provided for in a Cabinet of Ministers decree signed by Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev, as reported in the newspaper ‘Erkin Too’.

According to the document, government bodies, the President’s authorised representatives in the regions and local authorities must hand over tyres to the ‘Tyre Recycling Plant’, a subsidiary of Kumtor Gold Company.

Local authorities are also advised to set up collection points and temporary storage facilities for tyres. State-owned enterprises and mining companies have been urged to send used tyres for recycling.

The state-owned enterprise ‘Eco Operator’ is to ensure that the relevant costs are funded from the recycling levy. It is proposed that products made from recycled tyres be used in urban improvement projects.
