Kyrgyzstan to start tracking agricultural products from farm to store

A seminar on the launch of an agricultural product traceability system was held in Bishkek. It was organized by the Ministry of Water Resources and Agriculture in conjunction with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The system will make it possible to know exactly where and how products were produced, which will improve their quality and safety and help expand exports.

FAO representatives noted that there is growing demand worldwide for verified and safe products. “Such a system strengthens trust, both within the country and abroad,” emphasized Oleg Guchgeldiev, FAO representative in Kyrgyzstan. The project will be implemented by the state-owned enterprise AgroSmart, which will be responsible for the technical aspects and launch of the system in pilot regions.

After successful testing, the project will be expanded to the whole country. A cooperation agreement has already been signed between the FAO and the ministry, officially launching the joint effort. In the future, this will help make Kyrgyz products more competitive and recognizable on the global market.
