The main purpose of the minister's working trip was to personally verify reports on social media that ‘there is not enough coal’ and to clarify the situation on the ground.
The management of Kyrgyzkumur OJSC provided information on the progress of coal mining and delivery to the population at the Kara-Keche open-pit mine. According to the data, since the beginning of 2025, 978,584 tonnes of coal have been mined at Kara-Keche, which have been delivered to the population and the Bishkek Thermal Power Plant. A total of 255 pieces of equipment are involved. Across the republic, 132 fuel depots have been opened, where coal is sold at a price ranging from 3,290 to 6,800 soms, depending on the remoteness of the region and logistics costs. Two coal sorting machines are operating at the open-pit mine.
In addition, the minister visited the Ak-Ulak coal deposit. Thirty per cent of the coal mined there is delivered to the thermal power plant. According to the relevant managers, coal is also delivered to the population and social facilities. A sorting machine is currently being installed. Once it is commissioned, small coal will be sent to the thermal power plant, and large coal will be sent to the population.
After familiarising himself with the work of the coal deposits, the minister instructed the responsible managers to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of coal to the population, to organise round-the-clock shift work for drivers and to provide citizens with affordable coal on a regular basis.
