In Kyrgyzstan, a proposal has been made to use market mechanisms to set fuel prices

Kyrgyzstan needs to develop exchange-based mechanisms for setting prices for crude oil and petroleum products, build strategic fuel reserves, and diversify its supply sources. This was stated by Mikhail Petrov, president of the Eurasian Union Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, during a discussion on the country’s fuel and lubricant supply situation.

According to him, exchange trading could make the pricing process more transparent and allow for tracking the flow of petroleum products in the market.

He also emphasized the need to prepare in advance for possible supply disruptions, including by building reserves and seeking alternative import sources.
