Kyrgyzstan to hold an additional round of legalisation for vehicles with foreign number plates

Kyrgyzstan is to carry out an additional and final stage of legalisation for vehicles with foreign number plates. The relevant procedure was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers via Resolution No. 470 of 9 July 2026.

According to the document, the legalisation process will take place from 10 July to 1 September 2026 inclusive.

The organisation and implementation of the procedure have been entrusted to the State Centre for the Registration of Vehicles and Drivers under the Presidential Administration.

The Ministry of the Interior, the State Border Service and other state bodies will be involved in the process. They are required to ensure inter-agency co-operation and the provision of the necessary data.

The decision was adopted in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 197 of 3 June 2026, issued by President Sadyr Zhaparov, ‘On measures to complete the legalisation of vehicles with foreign number plates and to regulate their use’.

It should be noted that previous stages of the legalisation of vehicles with foreign number plates have already been carried out in Kyrgyzstan. The measure was aimed at registering such vehicles with the state, regulating their use within the country and bringing the vehicle fleet into line with the requirements of national legislation.
