Kyrgyzstan has begun accepting applications for hotel star ratings and “tündük” ratings for yurt camps

Kyrgyzstan has begun accepting applications for the evaluation of tourist accommodations. This will help improve the quality of service in the country. Hotels, guesthouses, yurt camps, and resorts can now submit an application through the website.

The State Agency for Tourism and the Tourism Support Fund announced that the rating system is now operational. It is intended to establish clear rules, raise service standards, and make tourists’ stays more comfortable.

Participation in the system is voluntary but offers businesses new opportunities. Based on the evaluation results, hotels and resorts will be able to receive “stars,” guesthouses will receive “edelweiss,” and yurt camps will receive the national quality mark—“tündük.”

For owners, this is not only confirmation of their service level but also a good way to attract customers. The assigned category can be used in advertising, and the facility itself will be included in the official list of verified locations.

The application process is simple and takes place online. You need to register on the website, fill out a form, submit documents, after which a specialist will inspect the facility. A decision is then made, a certificate valid for three years is issued, and the information is added to the national list.

Eduard Kubatov, Director of the State Agency for Tourism, noted that the new system will help businesses operate under clear rules and enable tourists to better understand the level of service they can expect.

The system was introduced by a decision of the Cabinet of Ministers on March 27, 2025. The project is being implemented with the support of the Asian Development Bank as part of the Almaty–Bishkek Economic Corridor program.
