Kyrgyzstan is building its first factory to produce seismic isolation components

Nurdán Oruntaev, Minister of Construction, showed journalists the construction site of the country’s first factory to produce seismic isolation components. The facility will enable the production of materials to enhance the seismic resilience of buildings within Kyrgyzstan.

As part of the ‘Open Office’ project, media representatives spent a working day with the Minister for Construction, Architecture and Housing and Communal Services, Nurdang Oruntayev.

One of the key highlights of the visit was the construction site of the future plant, which is being built on the grounds of the State Institute of Seismic-Resistant Construction and Engineering Design. According to the minister, once the plant is operational, Kyrgyzstan will begin producing modern seismic isolation components, enabling the introduction of new technologies in construction and reducing dependence on imports.

Journalists were also shown the work of the testing laboratory at the Republican Centre for Construction Certification, where the quality of concrete, reinforcing bars, asphalt concrete, bitumen and other building materials is tested. In the laboratory of the State Institute of Seismic-Resistant Construction, specialists demonstrated equipment for testing reinforcing bars for strength and resistance to loads.

Seismic isolation components are used to reduce the impact of earthquakes on buildings and are widely used in the construction of modern earthquake-resistant structures.
