08/16/2026, 10:22The harvest is continuing in Kyrgyzstan. To date, 352.7 thousand hectares of grain crops have been harvested, representing 57.1 per cent of the planned 617 thousand hectares. This is 25,900 hectares more than during the same period last year. 985,100 tonnes of grain have already been delivered to grain storage facilities, and the total gross harvest has increased by 6.9 per cent. The average yield stands at 27.6 centners per hectare.
The highest figures are for wheat: 80.2 per cent of the planned area has been harvested, with the gross harvest up by 30.8 per cent compared with last year. Barley has been harvested from 59 per cent of the area, with an average yield of 25.1 centner per hectare, which is 15.1 per cent higher than last year’s level. The harvesting of maize and pulse crops is still in its early stages.
The harvest is proceeding most actively in the Chui Region, where 63 per cent of the area has been harvested. In the Osh Region, the volume of the harvest has increased by 20.1 per cent compared with last year. In the Jalal-Abad and Batken Regions, 56.5 per cent and 62.3 per cent of the area have been harvested respectively. In the Talas, Issyk-Kul and Naryn regions, large-scale harvesting is only just gaining momentum due to weather conditions.
At the same time, harvest volumes for vegetables, potatoes and melons are rising. Compared with last year, the volume of vegetables harvested has increased by 6.1 per cent, potatoes by 7.9 per cent and melons by 20.4 per cent. To date, 41.1 per cent of vegetable crops, 20.6 per cent of potatoes and 44.8 per cent of melons and gourds have been harvested. The Osh and Jalal-Abad regions remain the main producers. The harvesting of cotton, tobacco and sugar beet is still in its early stages.
