07/01/2026, 10:00Sadyr Zhaparov has signed amendments to the law on natural monopolies in the Kyrgyz Republic, which provide for an increase in funding for the Fund for the Development and Material Support of the antitrust authority.
The document was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh on 20 May 2026.
The main change concerns Article 20 of the Act, which provides for an increase in funding for the Antimonopoly Authority’s Development Fund. Whereas previously 25 per cent of the relevant budget revenue was allocated to it, the figure is now at least 50 per cent.
In addition, the procedure for regulating the fund’s activities has been amended. Whereas previously the law only defined the procedure for its formation and use, the Cabinet of Ministers will now also determine the fund’s budget.
As set out in the law, the amendments are aimed at strengthening the antitrust authority’s material and technical base, creating the necessary conditions for its operation, and enhancing social protection for its staff.
The law will come into force 30 days after its official publication. Within one month, the Cabinet of Ministers must bring its regulatory legal acts into line with the new requirements.
