Kyrgyzstan has legalised the inheritance of e-cigarettes

President Sadyr Zhaparov has signed a law allowing e-money to be included in an estate. The legislation also sets out the obligations of issuers when approached by heirs. This was reported in the newspaper *Erkin-Too*.

Under the law, in the event of the owner’s death, the right to claim the return of e-money forms part of the estate.

Upon receiving a request from a notary, a government body or the heirs, the e-money issuer is obliged to block outgoing transactions from the e-wallet, provide details of the balance and amount of funds, and then transfer them to the heirs once their rights have been confirmed.

In addition, corresponding amendments have been made to the legislation on banks and banking activities. Banks will be able to provide notaries and heirs with information about a deceased customer’s electronic money as part of the inheritance process.

The document amends the Civil Code, the Law ‘On the Payment System of the Kyrgyz Republic’ and the Law ‘On Banks and Banking Activities’. It will come into force 10 days after its official publication.
