Kyrgyzstan collects 143.2 million KGS for environmental violations

In Kyrgyzstan, 5,749 violations of environmental legislation were identified in 2025. This was reported at a meeting of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The amount of compensation for damages amounted to 143.2 million KGS. As part of strengthening environmental control, the state-owned enterprise “Ecooperator” was created, which collected 74 million KGS in disposal fees.

Particular attention was paid to the protection of Lake Issyk-Kul. During the year, 99 raids were carried out, during which illegal fishing nets were destroyed. Restrictions on the use of plastic products in the resort area were also introduced.

Against this backdrop, interest in specially protected natural areas is growing. In 2025, they were visited by 271,000 tourists. Revenue from visits amounted to 37.7 million KGS.

The ministry noted that in 2026, work to strengthen environmental control and preserve natural heritage will continue.
