Kyrgyz Economy Ministry Warns: Only Cars Imported Before January 1, 2025, Eligible for Legalization

According to a Decree issued by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Cabinet of Ministers is tasked with developing regulatory legal acts based on the decree. An interdepartmental commission is currently working on this and has prepared relevant proposals, which have been sent to various state bodies for approval by the Cabinet of Ministers.

One of the key points of the regulatory legal acts is that only vehicles imported into the Kyrgyz Republic before January 1, 2025, will be eligible for legalization. The document also stipulates: Payment of a state fee as prescribed; A ban on selling or transferring legalized cars to third parties; A restriction on driving the vehicle by individuals not listed in the vehicle passport.

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyz Republic warns citizens and car dealers that the Decree applies exclusively to vehicles brought into the country before January 1, 2025. Those planning to import right-hand drive vehicles after this date should note that they will not be covered by the legalization mechanism.

The Ministry also advises citizens to refrain from purchasing vehicles without valid ownership documents or those of questionable origin. The legalization period is set to begin on March 1, 2025.
