In Kyrgyzstan, according to statistics, older people are less likely than children and adults to live in poverty

According to the results of 2024, elderly citizens of Kyrgyzstan were the least vulnerable age group in terms of poverty levels. This is evidenced by official statistics.

Thus, the proportion of people aged 65 and older living in poverty was 30%. This is significantly lower than the figures for other age groups. For comparison, the poverty rate among adults aged 18–64 reached 32.2%, and among children under 18, it was 48.5%, which remains the highest value.

Overall, the prevalence of multidimensional poverty in the republic in 2024 was 38.5%, down from previous years. However, the age structure of poverty remains uneven.

The highest probability of living in poverty is recorded in rural areas—46%, while in cities this figure is 28.3%. This also affects the age structure of poverty, as a significant proportion of families with children live outside cities.
