In Manas, the cost estimates for three major projects were revised, saving over 1 billion KGS

In the city of Manas, following a review of the design and cost estimate documentation for three major social infrastructure projects, state budget expenditure was reduced by more than 1 billion KGS. This was reported by the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Communal Services.

The analysis of the cost estimates was carried out at the instruction of President Sadyr Zhaparov. The Ministry of Construction re-examined the design and cost estimate documentation and refined the cost of the construction works.

Savings of 74.9 million KGS were achieved on the construction of the regional clinical hospital. The cost of the 7-storey building was initially estimated at approximately 1.7 billion KGS. Following the revision of the budget, the cost stood at around 1.5 billion KGS.

The hospital is planned to house a laboratory, outpatient and diagnostic, intensive care and operating theatres, as well as neurosurgery, trauma, oncology, urology, ophthalmology and ENT departments. A 219-square-metre helipad is planned for the roof of the building. Four lifts will also be installed.

Formwork on the seventh floor is now nearing completion, and brickwork has been completed up to the fifth floor.

A further 479 million KGS were saved during the construction of a sports complex with a capacity of 5,200 spectators. Initially, its estimated cost exceeded 3 billion KGS. Following a recalculation, the project’s cost amounted to 2.6 billion KGS.

The complex will comprise a football pitch with stands, VIP seating, an administrative building, a swimming pool, training grounds, a medical centre, catering facilities and a car park. Construction is proceeding according to schedule.

In addition, the construction cost of the ‘Akylman’ Presidential Lyceum has been reduced by 443.5 million KGS. The project was originally estimated at over 2.1 billion som, with the cost per square metre standing at $1,103. Following a review, this figure was reduced to $750, and the total estimated cost was revised to 1.7 billion KGS.

The school is designed to accommodate 360 pupils, whilst the boarding house has capacity for 410 residents. The project also includes accommodation for teachers, laboratories, a library, a swimming pool, a sports hall and a stadium. Construction and fitting-out works are nearing completion, and the facility is scheduled to open in the new academic year.

Oruntaev emphasised that the revision of the estimates is aimed at optimising expenditure without compromising the quality or functionality of the facilities.
