Migration problems have been discussed at a meeting of the Kyrgyz-Russian working group in Moscow

The 17th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Russian Joint Working Group was held in Moscow to discuss migration issues within the 1996 agreement between the governments of Kyrgyzstan and Russia, and the 2003 protocol.

The meeting addressed issues related to the migration situation and changes in the migration legislation of both countries. Jyldyz Polotova focused on the need to liberalise measures for entry into Russia for ‘minor administrative offences’, the placement of children of Kyrgyz workers in Russian schools, access of migrant family members to compulsory health insurance, and difficulties with dactyloscopic registration in Russia. The creation of a pre-immigration training centre in Kyrgyzstan was also discussed. The Minister emphasised the urgency of the problems of Kyrgyz citizens related to difficulties at the Russian borders and the threat of forced expulsion. At the end of the meeting, a protocol outlining the agreements reached was signed.
