The National Statistics Committee is to establish a Smart Data Centre, and the head of the agency will be personally responsible for combating corruption

President Sadyr Zhaparov has signed a decree amending the regulations governing the National Statistics Committee. The changes are aimed at the agency’s digital transformation and at strengthening the personal accountability of its leadership in the fight against corruption.

One of the key changes is the renaming of the Main Computing Centre to the Intelligent Data Centre. In this way, the authorities are emphasising the shift from traditional processing of statistical information to more modern approaches to data management, including analysis, systematisation and the use of digital technologies.

Another important innovation concerns the accountability of the National Statistics Committee’s leadership. A provision has been included in the agency’s regulations stipulating that the committee chair will bear personal responsibility for establishing an internal anti-corruption system, monitoring compliance with legislation and ensuring staff discipline.

The changes have been introduced as part of the implementation of the State Anti-Corruption Strategy for 2025–2030. The document provides for the strengthening of internal control mechanisms within state bodies and an increase in the accountability of senior officials for the work of subordinate structures.
