05/20/2025, 09:04Three new sustainable tourist routes are planned to be opened in the Osh region, which will pass through the most picturesque and little-known corners of the region. A tender for their development has been announced by the public association “Destination Osh.”
The project is being implemented as part of the “Green Economy and Sustainable Private Sector Development in Kyrgyzstan” program with the support of international donors, including the Swiss government.
If the project is successful, tourists will be able to go on horseback, bicycle, and trekking tours along new routes that will pass through locations such as Murdash, Kozho-Kelen, Kyrgyz-Ata, Kara-Shor, and other little-known but impressive destinations. The main focus is on environmental friendliness, community involvement, and cultural heritage preservation.
The new routes will include detailed logistical descriptions and key points of interest. Before launch, each route will undergo a test tour with tour operators to take feedback into account and improve the product.
“The implementation of this initiative will allow the Destination Osh NGO to expand its range of tourism products, attract new tourists, strengthen the local economy, and establish the region as one of the key centers of sustainable and active tourism in Kyrgyzstan,” the association explains.
The work will cover four districts: Uzgen, Kara-Suu, Nookat, and Ala. The project is expected to be completed by October 20 this year.
