A Kyrgyz-Russian centre for the protection of citizens’ rights may be established in Russia

The Chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers, Adylbek Kasymliev, and the Human Rights Commissioner of the Russian Federation, Yana Lantratova, discussed the protection of the rights of Kyrgyz nationals in Russia. Lantratova spoke about an initiative to establish a Kyrgyz-Russian centre for the protection of citizens’ rights.

The parties also discussed migration issues, including the situation of Kyrgyz nationals listed on the register of persons subject to control, and the simplification of migration procedures.

Particular attention was paid to access to education for the children of Kyrgyz citizens, as well as to healthcare and social support for the families of migrant workers.

Kasymaliev emphasised that it is important for Kyrgyzstan to continue the dialogue with the Russian side on issues that directly affect the country’s citizens.

According to the Kyrgyz side, cooperation is already underway between the ombudsman institutions of the two countries on pressing issues relating to the protection of citizens’ rights.
