Smartphones have been banned in schools of the Sverdlovsk district. The city hall gave them boxes to store them in

Public schools in Sverdlovsk district of Bishkek received cell phone boxes that will be used to store students' gadgets during lessons. The initiative is aimed at improving the quality of education and providing conditions for more effective learning.

According to the innovation, before the start of classes, all schoolchildren will be obliged to hand in their phones in numbered boxes, which are installed in each classroom. This will minimize the distraction of students on the use of mobile devices during lessons and increase concentration on the learning process.

To implement the project, the Department of Education of the Moscow Mayor's Office purchased 1 thousand 195 boxes for storing cell phones. They have already been distributed to 34 schools in the Sverdlovsk district.

The prototype for the introduction of a ban on smartphones in schools of the Sverdlovsk district was the pilot project “Lesson without a smartphone”, which was implemented in the capital's school No. 70 in 2023. After the experience was extended to 22 comprehensive schools of Pervomaisky district, for this purpose 1 thousand 801 boxes were purchased.

It should be noted that similar bans on the use of cell phones in lessons are in effect in some schools in Germany and Greece, and similar restrictions came into force in Russia on September 1 this year. Teachers and the majority of parents approved of these measures, and only 5% of respondents opposed them.
