Implemented by LLC "Atlas Cinema" with financial backing from the Kyrgyz-Russian Development Fund (RKFR), the project is executed under the direct instruction of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and with the support of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The RKFR allocated a total of USD 1.55 million for the reconstruction of six cinemas across small and medium-sized Kyrgyz cities—including Batken, Cholpon-Ata, Kerben, Aravan, Belovodsk, and Tokmok. The cinema in Tokmok, originally built in 1973, had not been operational for many years.
As part of the project, it underwent comprehensive modernization: a major renovation of the 400-seat hall was completed, modern digital equipment installed, and new comfortable furniture provided. The revival of the cinema is a significant event for local residents. RKFR Chairman Artem Novikov emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Fund’s mission to invest in both industry and quality of life, framing the cinema as a component of a broader systematic effort to establish a unified cultural space throughout Kyrgyzstan.
This supported project is a strategic contribution to human capital development and the creation of a harmonious, modern society. The initiative is expected to stimulate local community development, generate over 200 new jobs across the network, and grant residents of remote districts access to contemporary cinema, including domestically produced films.
