During a working visit, the Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry – and Director of the Water Resources Service – Almaz Zheenaliev, inspected the progress of the construction work and checked the cleaning of the drainage network.
The ‘Uch-Korgon’ reservoir is being built with financial support from the Islamic Development Bank. The project involves the creation of a seasonal regulation reservoir with a capacity of 4.3 million cubic metres of water.
Once construction is complete, the project will enable the development of 817 hectares of new irrigated land and improve the water supply to 4,113 hectares of existing agricultural land.
The project envisages the efficient use of non-vegetation runoff from the Ton River and is intended to ensure a more stable supply of irrigation water to farms.
During his visit to the construction site, Almaz Zheenaliev paid particular attention to the quality of the work being carried out and adherence to the project’s timetable, and the relevant instructions were given to those in charge.
