On the basis of the evidence gathered, a criminal case has been opened under Article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (‘Receiving a bribe’). As part of the investigation, investigative and operational measures were carried out at the university.
As a result, the university’s vice-rector, E.N.M., was detained and placed in the temporary detention centre of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The State Committee for National Security (GKNB) noted that work to identify and combat corruption, including within the higher education system in the regions of Kyrgyzstan, is continuing.
